Sense by MACO – intelligent sensors

Introducing, ‘Sense by MACO’, the first integrated smart window and door sensors available in the UK to utilise the Matter Protocol. Available in the UK from MACO Door & Window Hardware (U.K.) Ltd and their network of suppliers these future-proof wireless window and door sensors make windows and doors a “part of the digital future”.

Future-proof with the Matter standard

Sense by MACO wireless sensors work with the new multi-sector Matter Standard for smart home solutions. The Matter Protocol is a mutual language that all devices can understand, that will simplify and streamline the smart home experience, making the benefits of a Smart Home accessible to all.

Before Matter, each smart home device had its own “language,” but with Matter, all these devices can now “speak” the same language, making it much easier to set up, control, and integrate smart home devices. This means you can mix and match devices from different brands without worrying about compatibility issues, leading to a more seamless and integrated smart home experience. It also removes the requirement for the additional gateway hub. This results in individual solutions that increase security, optimise energy consumption or control the indoor climate making it energy efficient.

With ‘Sense by MACO’ sensors on the Matter protocol the barriers of complexity are gone which enables the benefits of smart security systems that can automate family life, enhance standards of living, and offer additional safety measures, to be adopted by everyone.

Efficiency for installation and operation

The sensors can not only be fitted as the final part of the production process during fabrication of windows and doors but they can also be retrofitted. They fit discreetly into the rebate area and they are invisible when the sash is closed and not conspicuous when open. The window and door status is monitored and transmitted using the energy of standard commercial batteries, this enables a compact design and a wide range of applications at low operating costs. Apart from changing the battery, the sensors are practically maintenance-free.

One sensor, four variants

MACO currently offers a total of four different sensor variants to suit casement or tilt and turn windows, lift & slide doors or front doors. Primarily designed to fit MACO hardware but there is also a universal sensor that can be utilised in many other scenarios. Detecting the status – “open” or “closed” – is the key to greater convenience and control. It’s no longer about simply knowing if your doors and windows are open or closed, it’s about what this technology can enable in the challenging and stressful environments of the modern world. Technology, when implemented correctly, really does make Sense. The only ‘matter’ now is what you will do with it.
