First decorating visualisation app launched

The digital landscape is changing in the interiors sector, from the way we shop to the way we decorate. As one of the major online players in the market, leading wallpaper and paint manufacturer Graham & Brown has developed the first app of its kind to visualise pattern and colour on the wall.

The app created by Graham & Brown helps those decorating their homes see the pattern on the whole wall before choosing their wallpaper. A big step from the current ‘swatch’ method and uses Augmented Reality to present a decorated wall in few simple steps.

Just launched through the App Store, the app allows you to see how the room will look with the new pattern, move around the room to see the design from any angle, with different light sources, or go ‘up close and personal’ to see the intricate detailing of the design.

“People love the thought of using wallpaper but often struggle to visualise what it will be like on their walls.  Whilst there is a lot of inspiration to be found socially, online and in magazines, making that jump to what it will look like in your own space is a challenge for most of us. This app makes it easy and is very intuitive. You can save your favourites or take an image of your creation to review and share. If you like what you see you can buy it then and there,” says Alan Kemp, Head of Brand at Graham & Brown.

The app has been developed in-house through the Future Innovations Panel at Graham & Brown. Utilising the latest Augmented Reality technology built into an iPhone/iPad the tech uses the camera to present a finished wall in real time.

Paul Martin Head of IT at Graham & Brown says:

“The aim was to make something intuitive, accessible and quick to use, that uses technology to solve the age-old visualising problem. We’ve seen in testing that people are far bolder in their choices because they’ve seen exactly how a paper might look.”
